Four Questions You Should Ask Yourself When Hiring a Stage Hypnotist
There are many hypnotists available to bring your organization an evening of fun. As with any business, there are also many unprofessional and inexperienced entertainers. You want to sort out the good from the bad and here are a few questions you can ask yourself to make it easy.
1. Are you hiring a full-time stage hypnotist?
Many people get into the profession because they want to make a few extra bucks during the year. They may know a bit about hypnosis, but with minimal training and understanding on how to construct and pace a show, they often perform with unsatisfying results. It is not uncommon to see this breed of entertainer come and go within a short timeframe. They get out as they accrue a poor reputation and find work harder and harder to obtain. Matt Dawson has been entertaining people for two decades and has nearly ten years of experience with hypnosis.
2. Is your hypnotist insured?
Every entertainer should carry insurance, not just stage hypnotists. Asking someone to come in and entertain your group when they're not carrying insurance is like waiting for a time bomb to explode. The ones that don't carry insurance are typically the ones that need it most.
You want to offer the safest entertainment possible and know that if anything were to happen, your guests would be fully covered. A full-time stage hypnotist knows how to make and keep the working environment safe and secure for the volunteers. A trained professional is aware of every possible issue, but even still, they are responsible and carry a solid, reliable policy. I've carried the same policy for six years and haven't once had to use it. Nevertheless, it's a good feeling to have such a solid insurer behind me. I also always bring at least one trained assistant with me for every show who can help with moving chairs and making sure every subject is safe on stage.
3. Does your hypnotist understand your goals?
You want a show that is content and age appropriate for your audience. You want the performer to excite and entertain and audience; one who will interact with them and bring the best out in their performance. Ultimately, you want your guests to remember the wonderful entertainment that you provided. Again, a full-time stage hypnotist should always be able to keep your goals in mind and cap off a successful event. Someone who doesn't have a solid routine and "experiments" on stage is either going to produce a boring show or an inappropriate one.
4. Will your stage hypnotist make it easy for you?
Organizing an event can be quite a chore. Getting your group excited for it is essential to its success. You want an entertainer who can provide you with powerful promotional tools. Posters, flyers and tickets that are provided to you free you of your valuable time and allow you to concentrate on all the little things. Every professional entertainer should have a system in place that makes it as effortless for you as possible. Just let us know what you would like on the promotional material and it will be in your hands only a few short days later. |
